From the Year of Assessment 2012, eligible companies with annual turnover of $1 million and below will be able to file their income tax return using a simplified tax form that comprises only three pages (from the usual seven) and can be filed either in hard copy or electronically.

The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, together with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals and Tax Academy of Singapore, has organised a seminar to provide a preview of the simplified tax return. The seminar is designed to help tax agents and tax intermediaries understand and prepare for a more efficient tax filing regime.

To help businesses understand the importance of getting GST right and to equip their staff with practical knowledge on preparation of GST returns, the Tax Academy of Singapore is pleased to present a 1-day workshop "FasTax Series: Getting GST Right" on 6 January 2012. Participants will hear from the speakers responsibilities of being GST registered, the risks and recovery actions to take if they do not get them right and how these could have been easily prevented.

Participants can also take this opportunity to clarify with the authority on GST issues encountered during the course of their work. The programme will feature a sharing on GST case stories by KPMG, followed by a practical segment conducted by IRAS.

The Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), and the Tax Academy of Singapore are pleased to present a 3-day seminar on Tax Treaties, European Tax Law and Transfer Pricing. The seminar is specially designed to enhance participants’ competence in tax treaty law (with specific focus on recent court decisions in various countries), provide participants with an appreciation of European direct tax law, and advanced level instruction on tax planning and transfer pricing issues in multinational companies.
