Signature Conference 2009: Asia-Pacific Taxation - A Glimpse into the Future
Singapore Marriot Hotel
The future is already embedded in the present. Looking at what is happening in the present often offers us a glimpse of what might be in the future. In the midst of the global financial and economic crises since October last year, coupled with the intended and unintended consequences from the massive rescue efforts made since, there is little doubt that the future landscape, including the taxation landscape, will be quite different from what it is today. Governments and tax authorities around the world are developing policy responses to plug the widening gap between revenue collection and public expenditure. The Obama administration announced sweeping reforms to tax deferral rules and to close foreign tax credit loopholes. While keeping tax rates for corporates unchanged, UK has announced an increase in income tax rate for individuals.
Our world of taxation is changing, fast.
What changes do we envisage in tax policies and rules? What impact will these have on the regional tax landscape? How will this affect the operating environment for multi-national enterprises and international businesses? How do you make sense of the new future? What should be your responses?
To help you answer these questions, the Tax Academy is proud to present a strong team of senior tax policy makers and international tax experts. Senior government officials from Australia, India, Malaysia, Vietnam and China will share with you tax policy insights for the Asia-Pacific region on the first day of the conference. Mr Mukesh Butani, Partner of BMR & Associates, who will then lead a plenary on the implications of regional tax policy changes and trends. The Big 4 International Accounting Firms will conduct workshops with 4 different themes, namely, Into the Future - Transfer Pricing, International Tax Planning, Managing Tax Controversies and Regional Tax Trends. Mr Pok Soy Yoong, former Head of Tax for Ernst & Young, will close with a plenary session comprising an international panel of tax experts, to help you make sense of the new future and suss out how you may act now for the future that is fast approaching.
Fees:
Special Rate: $642 (inclusive of 7% GST), closing date 24 July
