The Tax Academy organised a series of events and published a collection of tax articles to celebrate IRAS’ 25th Anniversary and commemorate 70 years of Income Tax in Singapore. Through these initiatives, the Tax Academy hopes to raise public awareness of the importance of taxes and contribute to the continued competency development of tax professionals.

70 Years of Income Tax

Complimentary Seminars, 14 and 15 Aug 2017

The Tax Academy offered complimentary seminars to the public over two days. These seminars featured experts from the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC and IFA Singapore, who shared insights on local and international tax issues.

Day 1 seminars gave an appreciation of the tax industry while Day 2 seminars covered technical discussions on key local and international tax issues that are relevant to Singapore.

SMU-TA Centre for Excellence in Taxation (CET) Conference, 17 Aug 2017

The Tax Academy organised the SMU-TA CET conference themed “Future of Taxes in Disruptive Times”. In this third annual conference, policy-makers and thought-leaders discussed the future of taxes in light of developments in global political scenes in the last year, potential tax reforms in major economies, and governments taking steps towards new tax rules and measures related to the implementation of BEPS-minimum standards.
