Mr Ong Yew Huat
Mr Ong was appointed the Chairman of Tax Academy on 2 August 2014. He is the Chairman of National Heritage Board and Chairman of Singapore Tyler Print Institute.
Mr Ong was appointed to the boards of United Overseas Bank in Singapore and Malaysia in 2013. At UOB Singapore, he is on the Audit and Board Risk Management Committees. He is Chairman of UOB Malaysia. Mr Ong is also a director of Singapore Power Ltd, where he is chairman of the Audit Committee. In the field of education, he serves on the NUS Business School BBA (Accounting) Advisory Board and is the Chairman of Andersen Primary School Advisory Committee. In 2011, he was awarded the Public Service Medal for his contribution to the arts.
Mr Chiu Wu Hong
Wu Hong has over 20 years of Singapore and regional tax experience in the areas of tax incentive applications, cross-border transactions, merger and acquisitions, tax compliance, consulting and planning for local and multinational companies, as well as consulting for the public sector. In his role as Head of Enterprise, Wu Hong focuses on advising innovative start-ups, large local businesses and helping family businesses to grow. He has contributed articles in academic journals and leading business publications. He is also a regular speaker at seminars and has provided comments and articles on Tax and Enterprise related issues to the media.
Mrs Eng-Tay Geok Lee
Mrs Eng is appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Tax Academy in November 2013. She is concurrently the Deputy Commissioner (Business) and Chief Compliance Officer of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. She has experiences in the administration of taxes and formulation of tax policy.
Associate Professor Poh Eng Hin
Nanyang Technological University
Associate Professor Poh has been with the Nanyang Business School, NTU since 1998. He currently serves as Assistant Dean for the Bachelor in Accountancy programme, and teaches taxation courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research has been published in a number of peer-reviewed international journals. Outside of NTU, he has served at various times as Examiner for several professional accountancy bodies. He is an Accredited Tax Adviser and is currently a member of the Tax Academy’s curriculum and examination development committee and a member of the Income Tax Board of Review.
Mr Anthony Mallek
Mr Anthony Mallek is the Chief Financial Officer for SPH. Before this appointment in January 2010, he served as Executive Vice-President, Finance from July 2006 and Senior Vice-President, Finance when he joined in June 2003. Prior to this, he was General Manager, Finance for Intraco Limited from 1999 to 2001. Originally from Hong Kong, he started his career in 1978 in the United Kingdom and has been with various U.S. multinationals until 1991 when he was posted to Singapore. His Singapore experience has mainly been in the healthcare industry, including general manager positions in finance and business development for Parkway Holdings Limited from 1994 to 1997. Mr Mallek holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) degree in Operations Management from The University of Bradford and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Ms Sim Siew Moon
With over 30 years of experience, Ms Sim Siew Moon has served multinationals and local clients from a broad range of sectors and worked closely with various government authorities and regulators on tax matters. Ms Sim is a frequent speaker at internally and externally organized seminars. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) degree. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and an Accredited Tax Advisor, Income Tax and GST, of the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals.
Mr Eugene Lim
Eugene Lim is an international tax and trade lawyer who works extensively in the Asia Pacific region, having been based in Hong Kong and China for 11 years before moving to Singapore in 2014 to head the Singapore Tax, Trade and Wealth Management practice in one of the largest international law firms in Singapore. He has extensive experience relating to the structuring of supply chain and distribution strategies in the Asia Pacific region as well as in international tax and trade matters. He is currently practicing with Providence Law Asia LLC.
Eugene is recognised by leading legal directories such as The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and International Tax Review, with Chambers Asia Pacific noting that "clients prize the practical nature of Eugene Lim's advice, and particularly appreciate his ability 'to analyse, find solutions and add value - not just as a legal counsel but as a business consultant too'." Mr Low Hwee Chua
Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia
Mr Low Hwee Chua, Deloitte Singapore, is a tax partner with more than 25 years of experience including two years with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. He is the regional managing partner for the tax practice in Deloitte Singapore and Deloitte Southeast Asia.
Hwee Chua specialises in corporate income tax and international tax; assisting local and multinational companies to manage their tax affairs efficiently and cost effectively. Hwee Chua has assisted on a variety of projects including restructuring; mergers and acquisitions; tax due diligence; structuring of inbound and outbound investments; and applications for tax incentives and grants. Hwee Chua is an accredited tax adviser (income tax) with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (SIATP) and is a board member of the SIATP.
Mr Chris Woo
Mr Chris Woo is the Tax Leader for PwC Singapore and PwC Myanmar. He is also a member of the leadership team of PwC Singapore. He has over 20 years of professional experience. Mr Woo specializes in the M&A tax needs of strategic, financial and private equity clients from Asia, the United States and Europe. He also worked in the M&A tax team in the London office of PwC UK.
