Claude for Tax Professionals and Accountants
22 October 2026
Tax Academy of Singapore collaborated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) to organise Claude for Tax Professionals and Accountants on 22 October 2026.

Bringing together over 60 tax and accounting professionals, the hands-on workshop explored practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday professional tasks, highlighting opportunities to enhance productivity, streamline workflows and embrace emerging technologies in the tax and accounting professions.
As artificial intelligence continues to transform the professional landscape, the ability to harness emerging technologies has become increasingly important for tax professionals and accountants. Recognising this shift, Tax Academy of Singapore and ICAEW came together for their inaugural collaborative workshop, providing participants with an opportunity to explore the practical applications of AI and discover how it can support their day-to-day responsibilities.

Mr Lionel Sim, Founder of The AI Capitol
The workshop was led by Mr Lionel Sim, Founder of The AI Capitol, who introduced participants to Claude, an AI-powered assistant, and demonstrated its capabilities through practical examples and hands-on exercises. Participants explored how AI could be incorporated into their professional workflows, gaining insights into effective prompting techniques and ways to simplify complex, time-consuming tasks.
Building on these demonstrations, the workshop covered applications such as variance analysis, financial reconciliations, financial statement reviews and management commentary. Participants also explored the development of reusable AI-assisted workflows to support recurring tasks. Throughout the session, the importance of accuracy, data confidentiality and professional judgement was emphasised, highlighting the need for responsible and effective adoption of AI in professional practice.
Beyond the learning experience, the event provided a valuable platform for participants to connect with fellow professionals, exchange perspectives and share experiences on the evolving role of AI in tax and accounting. The networking opportunities further encouraged meaningful conversations on how emerging technologies could be effectively integrated into professional practices.

The inaugural collaboration with ICAEW reflected Tax Academy of Singapore's commitment to supporting the evolving learning needs of tax and accounting professionals. As technology continues to reshape the profession, Tax Academy recognises the importance of developing capabilities that go beyond technical tax knowledge. Through practical learning opportunities such as this workshop, Tax Academy aims to equip professionals with the skills, confidence and professional judgement needed to navigate an increasingly digital and AI-enabled environment.
